Trainee Project Manager

Trainee Project Manager Required in Essex

GVR Solutions are currently working with a well-established building and refurbishment contractor who are seeking a Trainee Project Manager to join their team.

As a main contractor, they deliver a varied range of projects across the education, healthcare, commercial, heritage and public sectors, with schemes ranging from smaller refurbishment works through to larger construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support the Project Manager with the day-to-day running of allocated projects, assisting with actions and follow-up tasks.

* Assist with project programmes, understanding work sequences and tracking progress against key dates.

* Attend sites, liaise with site teams and subcontractors, and flag any issues affecting programme, quality or safety.

* Assist with the procurement of materials, plant and subcontract packages, checking lead times and availability.

* Gain experience with valuations, variations, purchase orders, subcontractor costs, invoicing and project forecasting.

* Help maintain project records, including meeting notes, updates, actions, photographs and client information.

* Assist with quality checks, snagging and gathering documentation required for project handover.

* Follow company and site procedures, supporting with RAMS, toolbox talks and site records where required.

Requirements

* Genuine interest in construction and project management, with a willingness to learn.

* Good organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

* Some knowledge of construction or building methods is beneficial, but not essential.

* Confident communicating with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients.

* Able to take notes, follow up actions and keep information organised.

* Practical approach to problem-solving with a willingness to ask questions.

* Good basic numeracy and an interest in project costs.

* Reliable, punctual and comfortable working both in the office and on site.

* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, or willing to learn.

* Team player who can take direction and develop towards working independently.

* CSCS Card is advantageous

* Construction-related qualification is desirable

* Full UK Driving license is preferred

* Further training and construction qualifications will be supported
