It’s fully adaptable around university deadlines and travel home, as you select the days you want to work. A Cover Supervisor / Unqualified Supply Teacher role gives you valuable classroom experience, very employable transferrable skills, and requires no teaching qualifications or experience - just the right character and confidence to work with young people. We work with talented undergraduates from University of Bristol and University of West England, as well as other establishments, who want to earn as they build up fantastic skills on their CV. You can begin as a Teaching Assistant and work your way up to Suppy Teaching if you feel most comfortable doing so!

The Role

As an Unqualified Supply Teacher, you’ll step in when a teacher is absent. You’re not expected to teach new content. Your role is to lead, guide and manage the classroom. While you will cover a range of subjects, schools like to place you according to your subject specialism so you can apply your degree, but be aware that this is not a Teaching role - this is a classroom management role, so specialist subject knowledge is not required.

Deliver pre-set work left by the teacher
Use your communication skills to explain tasks clearly
Keep students focused, motivated and on task
Build positive, professional relationships with pupils
Adapt confidently to different subjects and classroom environments
£100–£115 per day

The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for individuals who bring confidence, clarity and a positive presence:

Students currently studying at University
Strong communicators who can engage a classroom
Calm, adaptable and resilient
Interested in working with young people
Experience in tutoring, mentoring, writing, drama or similar is a bonus
Must have the right to work in the UK
To Clear, You Must Have
Proof of ID (e.g. passport)
Two proofs of address
CV covering the last 10 years
References covering the past 2 years (all childcare references from the past 10 years if applicable)

You must have:

The right to work in the UK
An Overseas Police Check (for any country lived in for 3+ months in the last 5 years)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
