We have a strong partnership with Investment20/20; many teams across our business have benefitted from the skills and unique perspectives of talented young people who joined us through this programme. To date, we’ve welcomed 30 trainees and many of them have gone on to take permanent roles with us. 


As a trainee on the Vanguard Investment20/20 programme you will be introduced to the investment management industry, gain industry knowledge, experience and develop relationships enabling you to progress your career. You will have opportunities to meet and network with over 300 trainees across the industry and participate in socials and insight events. 

The opportunity
The role sits within our Security Operations team who oversee the continuous monitoring, assessment, and safeguarding of our organization's computing assets and critical data against potential threats. Key components include Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC), Incident Management Team (IMT), Threat Management Team (TMT and Global Security

Role overview

  • Learn to support day‑to‑day physical security operations by assisting with routine tasks, observing experienced team members, and gradually taking on independent responsibilities.

  • Develop foundational skills in access card management by helping process new hire and temporary passes, learning procedure requirements, and maintaining accurate records under guidance.

  • Build confidence in stakeholder engagement by supporting security input for events, participating in planning discussions, and assisting with on‑site coordination.

  • Gain exposure to travel risk management and executive protection by shadowing senior security specialists, observing assessments, and helping prepare supporting documentation.

  • Learn to work effectively with Front of House teams by supporting visitor management, understanding entry procedures, and helping maintain a seamless onsite experience.

  • Strengthen operational awareness by maintaining clear logs, learning compliance requirements, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts as skills develop.
     

You will be paid the equivalent of £28,000 per year plus a sign-on bonus of £500 to help you with initial costs (like buying new work clothes or your travel expenses). Once you finish the traineeship, if you want to stay on and you have made a good impression, the HR team will help you to apply for permanent roles.

Qualifications for the job

We are looking for school/college leavers or university graduates who are keen to learn and start their careers in financial services. How We Work

Vanguard has a hybrid working model, which means most teams work Tuesday-Thursday in the office and Monday and Friday from home. For some jobs we may need you to be in the office Monday-Friday. We will discuss the working pattern with you during the interview process.
