Job Description - Planning Administrator - Part-Time

Reed are working in partnership with the local authority and are seeking a Planning Administrator to join the Development Management service team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering technical and administrative processes for all types of planning applications, ensuring high-quality customer service and efficient data management.

This is a part-time role and will be office based 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical and administrative processes for planning applications, ensuring accurate data input, identifying planning constraints, and using the GIS mapping system for site plotting.
  • Generate correspondence, update the website, and maintain accurate records using the Council's planning software.
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and advice to customers in person, by telephone, and by written correspondence.
  • Process planning site history enquiries, provide historical information regarding developments, and liaise with the Legal team for documentation.
  • Handle the technical and administrative processes for planning and enforcement appeals.
  • Log all correspondence onto the Civica (Flare) system, manage emails received through the generic planning address, and respond appropriately.
  • Provide day-to-day administration of the Civica (Flare) software to deliver ongoing service improvements and efficiencies.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in a similar administrative role, preferably within a planning or development management context.
  • Proficiency in using ICT systems such as GIS mapping, Civica (Flare), and Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear guidance and advice to customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality customer service.
