Start Date: August 2025

We’re working with a provider of specialist services to recruit an experienced and highly specialist Occupational Therapist for a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong clinical and supervisory experience who is passionate about supporting children and young people with complex needs.

About the Role
The successful candidate will provide both direct and indirect occupational therapy input to children and young people, primarily in education and residential settings. The role combines clinical practice, supervision of other therapy staff, and strategic input into the delivery of therapeutic services across the region.

This role is largely remote, with travel required 1–2 days per week depending on caseload and service needs. Schools are based in Liverpool, Manchester and Halifax.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
  • Deliver specialist OT assessment, formulation, and intervention for children and young people with complex needs.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to carers, educators, and other professionals involved in the child’s care.
  • Promote independence through sensory integration and adaptation strategies.
  • Offer recommendations for aids and adaptations that support participation in daily activities.
  • Contribute an occupational therapy perspective to placement discussions and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  • Work collaboratively to create sensory-inclusive environments.
Training & Supervision
  • Provide training on OT approaches to internal teams and external partners.
  • Offer consultation and advice on OT assessment and intervention methods.
  • Supervise and line manage other clinicians including OTs, assistants, and other allied professionals as required.
What We’re Looking For
  • A qualified and HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist
  • Significant experience working with children and young people with complex needs
  • Proven experience working in educational settings
  • Sensory Integration training and experience delivering sensory-based interventions
  • Supervisory or line management experience
  • Ability to work independently with strong organisational and communication skills
If you're looking for a flexible and rewarding role within a collaborative and supportive team, we’d love to hear from you.
