The Supply Register is seeking passionate and experienced Biology Lecturers to join the team at Carlisle College. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support post-16 learners in developing their understanding of biological sciences and achieving their academic goals.

About the Role
As a Science Lecturer (Biology), you will deliver engaging and informative lessons in Biology, fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment. You will contribute to the college’s commitment to outstanding education and help prepare learners for progression to higher education, apprenticeships, or careers in science.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality teaching sessions in Biology, tailored to meet the needs of learners
• Develop innovative and interactive learning materials and activities
• Assess students’ progress, provide constructive feedback, and help them achieve their targets
• Promote scientific enquiry, curiosity, and critical thinking among learners
• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the science curriculum
• Support students’ progression, providing guidance on future study and career opportunities

Requirements:

• A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
• A degree in Biology or a closely related science subject
• Experience teaching Biology at secondary or further education level
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A genuine commitment to supporting student achievement and personal development

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a further education or post-16 setting
• Ability to inspire and motivate learners with practical, engaging teaching approaches
• Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety requirements in science education
