Job Description - Bookkeeper

Bookkeeper – Flexible Hours | Home-Based | £25–26K (Although primarily home based - applicants must live within commutable distance of Haywards Heath to be considered for this role.)

A growing, forward-thinking accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their small and dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter who enjoys autonomy and delivering top-tier service to clients, with flexibility to work around family life and the comfort of working from home.

What’s on Offer:

?? Salary: £25,000 – £26,000 (DOE)
? Primarily home-based (occasional travel to Haywards Heath)
?? Full-time or part-time (3–4 days/week, flexible)
?? 20 days holiday + bank holidays
?? Standard pension & death-in-service cover
?? Supportive team with opportunity for progression
??????????? Flexible working to suit family commitments

The Role:

Handling bookkeeping tasks to trial balance
Managing VAT returns
Onboarding and supporting new clients
Working across Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
Communicating directly with clients to maintain strong relationships

A confident, self-sufficient bookkeeper
Ideally practice experience, with ability to review and improve processes
Exceptional attention to detail and written communication skills
Warm and professional demeanour with a client-first mindset
Comfortable working independently and proactively
