A modern, tech-driven accountancy firm in Crawley is looking for a confident and capable Bookkeeper to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key position with real autonomy, flexibility, and room to grow.
Key responsibilities:

Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients (sole traders, partnerships, limited companies)
Process purchase and sales invoices using Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Dext and Hubdoc
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan balances weekly and monthly
Submit VAT returns (Standard, Flat Rate, Cash Accounting), ensuring MTD compliance
Handle CIS returns and monthly & quarterly PAYE/CIS reconciliations
Prepare accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset registers
Liaise with clients to chase missing information and ensure timely bookkeeping
Assist with year-end preparation and liaise with external accountants
Lead MTD ITSA readiness from April 2026

What we're looking for:

AAT Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent experience)
2+ years' bookkeeping experience, ideally in an accountancy practice
Proficient with Xero, QuickBooks, Dext and cloud-based accounting tools
Comfortable working independently and directly with clients
Strong knowledge of UK VAT rules, CIS, and payroll journals
Excellent reconciliation and problem-solving skills
Able to drive and commute to the Crawley office
