We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Care Assistant to join a community care team supporting individuals across Oldham and the surrounding areas.
As a Care Assistant, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care to individuals in their own homes and within the local community. You will play an important role in helping the people we support maintain their independence, dignity, wellbeing, and quality of life, while ensuring they feel safe, respected, and listened to.
About the Role
The role of Care Assistant involves providing practical and emotional support tailored to each individual’s needs. This may include supporting with personal care, daily living activities, meal preparation, medication, appointments, household tasks, and accessing the local community. You will follow personalised care plans and risk assessments, adapting your approach to ensure support remains safe, consistent, and responsive to changing needs.
As a Care Assistant, you will also build positive and trusting relationships with the people you support, their families, and other professionals involved in their care. You will be expected to communicate effectively, maintain accurate records, and recognise and report any changes in health, behaviour, or wellbeing.
This Care Assistant role would suit someone who is caring, reliable, professional, and confident working both independently and as part of a wider care team. Previous experience in domiciliary care, supported living, community care, or another health and social care setting would be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide person-centred care and support in clients’ own homes.
* Support with personal care, daily living activities, and household tasks.
* Assist with meal preparation, appointments, and access to the local community.
* Promote independence, dignity, choice, and wellbeing.
* Build positive and professional relationships with clients and their families.
* Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, and support plans.
* Support with medication where required and following appropriate training.
* Recognise and report changes in clients’ needs, health, or wellbeing.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records.
* Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational procedures.
About You
* At least 1 year’s experience working in a care role.
* Experience in domiciliary care, supported living, or community care is desirable.
* Caring, reliable, and professional approach.
* Good spoken and written English.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexible approach to working hours.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Own vehicle – essential.
* Right to work in the UK.
