Catering Assistant

To assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverages to pupils, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.

• Assist with the preparation and cooking of meals under the supervision of the Catering Manager or Cook.

• Serve food to pupils and staff in a timely and friendly manner.

• Set up and clear away tables, chairs, and food service equipment.

• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment using manual and/or mechanical cleaning methods.

• Ensure that food hygiene and health & safety regulations are followed at all times.

• Help with stock rotation and the storage of deliveries.

• Maintain cleanliness in food preparation and dining areas.

• Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the Catering Manager.

• Work as part of a team to ensure efficient running of the kitchen.

• Support special school events or themed menu days as required.

• Person Specification:

  Essential:

  • Good communication and team-working skills.

  • Basic food hygiene knowledge.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work on own initiative.

  • Punctual, reliable, and flexible.

  Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a catering or food service environment.

  • Level 1 or 2 Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to undertake training).

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.

  • Hours of Work:

  • Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM - 15:00 PM
