Job Title: Children with Disabilities Social Worker

Hourly Rate: £50.00

Location: Carlisle/ Workington

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children with Disabilities Social Worker to join our dedicated team in Carlisle/ Workington. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your expertise and earn a highly competitive hourly rate while making a real difference to the lives of children with disabilities and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and young people with disabilities, considering their individual needs, strengths, and aspirations. This involves using a range of assessment tools and working collaboratively with the child, their family, and other professionals.
  • Develop and implement person-centred care plans that promote independence, choice, and inclusion. This involves working with the child and family to identify their goals and aspirations and developing a plan to support them in achieving these goals.
  • Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and other professionals (e.g., health-care providers, educational staff, therapists, advocacy services). This includes regular communication and joint working to ensure that the child receives a holistic and coordinated approach to their care.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard and their wishes are respected. This will involve challenging systems and advocating for improvements where necessary.
  • Facilitate access to appropriate services and resources, including educational, therapeutic, and community-based support. This involves liaising with other agencies and services to ensure children receive the support they need.
  • Support children and families in their own homes and communities. This may involve direct support, practical assistance, and advocacy.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, adhering to all relevant legislation and professional guidelines. This involves meticulous record-keeping, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations. You will be expected to use the organisation's electronic case management system.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the team's services. This includes participating in regular supervision and contributing to team meetings and training.
  • Participate in regular supervision and training opportunities. This will provide ongoing professional development and support.
  • Comply with all relevant policies and procedures of the employing organisation.

Essential Criteria:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social work, with demonstrable experience working with children with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and care planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with specific types of disabilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
  • Experience with case management software.
