Community Advisor

Location: Based in Kirkcaldy / Community Outreach within Fife

Part-time: 26hrs per week; flexibility required to be available for evening work

Salary: Starting at £30,869 pro rata, rising to £31,278 pro rata after probation. Opportunity to progress to £33,039 pro rata.

The Role:

We are seeking a new Community Advisor to join our team at the Fife One Stop Shop. This role will focus specifically on supporting the delivery and expansion of our Flourish Programme, a vital part of Our Minds Matter, funded by Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. The programme supports the emotional wellbeing of children and young people in Fife, with a special focus on neurodivergent individuals and their families.

Flourish aims to provide increased support to parents and carers of young people up to 26 years old, who have neurodevelopmental differences.

Within this role you will work alongside the One Stop Shop Senior Community Advisor and wider stakeholders to;

• Provide information, advice, support and guidance to neurodivergent children and young people, families, and interested professionals.
• Offer direct support through the Flourish Programme, working closely with families and carers.
• Deliver and facilitate a range of opportunities to neurodivergent children and young people and their parents and carers.
• Maintain accessible resources for those involved in the programme.
• Promote awareness of the needs of neurodivergent children and young people and their families within the local community.
• Collaboratively identify areas of development to ensure neurodivergent children and young people and their family’s needs are met.

The successful candidate:

• Has lived experience and / or practical knowledge of autism
• Experience working with children and young people, particularly in Early Years or Youth Work.
• Have experience of supporting complex situations where a person may be experiencing heightened levels of distress or confusion.
• Understands autism across the lifespan and is familiar with the challenges faced by autistic people and their families.
• Active listening skills and able to respond empathetically.
• Ability to translate complex theoretical knowledge into accessible and practical advice.
• Ability to work in a diverse range of environments to deliver and facilitate support appropriate to the needs of different audiences, such as autistic people, or parents and carers.
• Is a team player and able to manage their own workload.
