Cook - (Registered Care Home)

Job Summary

The Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for residents within the care home. The role involves managing food orders, maintaining food hygiene standards, ensuring dietary requirements are met, and contributing to a positive dining experience for residents. The successful candidate will work closely with the management team to continuously improve catering services and resident satisfaction. 

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and evening meals for residents.
Plan menus and ensure meals meet residents' dietary and nutritional needs.
Order food supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
Prepare meals in advance where required, including weekend meal preparation.
Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and served in accordance with food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
Maintain accurate records relating to food preparation and nutritional information.
Monitor kitchen equipment and report any faults or maintenance issues promptly.
Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with all relevant standards.
Work collaboratively with care staff and management to enhance the catering service provided to residents.
Make recommendations for improving catering processes and the overall dining experience. 
Experience Required
Minimum of 1 year's experience in a cook, catering, or kitchen role.
Experience working within a care home, healthcare, supported living, or hospitality environment is desirable.
Good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and nutritional requirements.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with residents and colleagues.
A Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable.

Hours of Work 35 hours per week
Monday to Friday
9:00am - 4:30pm
