The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission is seeking a Destination Host – Multilinguist to provide exceptional visitor services at various Ports of Entry. The successful candidate must be fluent in one or more foreign languages (French, Italian, German, and/or Spanish) and will be responsible for delivering accurate tourism-related information, enhancing visitor experiences, and supporting frontline destination services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the British Virgin Islands tourism product, including culture, heritage sites, attractions, accommodations, and transportation.
Provide information and respond to visitor inquiries in assigned foreign languages at the Cruise Ship Pier and other Ports of Entry.
Ensure accurate translation and distribution of foreign language brochures and materials.
Effectively communicate BVI tourism offerings in person and respond to inquiries via telephone, email, or internet within 24 hours.
Assist with language translation and interpretation assignments as required.
Monitor the Board’s website and Facebook page daily and report inaccuracies to the Destination Host Coordinator.
Assist with preparation and collation of tourism information for local distribution.
Provide arrival and departure updates for ferries and airlines.
Direct visitors to services, attractions, Sister Islands, and authentic BVI experiences.
Assist with meet-and-greet services when required.
Enter Immigration cards into the central statistics unit and conduct exit surveys.
Observe all security and safety protocols for assigned areas.
Maintain clean, organized workspaces and ensure brochure racks are stocked.
Assist with BVIPA services, including processing applications, entry documentation, and attending to VIP guests.
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or a member of the Executive Team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
One (1) to two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Fluency in one or more of the following languages: French, Italian, German, and/or Spanish.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment.
Frequent outdoor work at Ports of Entry.
Frequent extended working hours, including weekends and public holidays.
