Job Description - Experienced childrens residential support worker

Children's Residential Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Residential Support Worker to join our team, working with vulnerable children and young people across the Swansea area. This role requires flexibility as shifts are on an ad hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support and care to children and young people with diverse needs, including those experiencing trauma and exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Implement care plans and risk assessments, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Assist with daily routines, educational activities, and recreational outings.
  • Promote the emotional, social, and physical well-being of the children in your care.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of observations and incidents.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, including social workers, therapists, and educators.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and safeguarding guidelines.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in residential support, specifically with children or young people.
  • Current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Registered with Social Care Wales.
  • Up-to-date restraint training.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts on an ad hoc basis, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable children.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
