Finance Manager - 6 Month Contract
Location: Braintree
£450/day DOE

We're working in partnership with Braintree District Council to find an experienced Finance Manager to join the team on a 6-month temporary contract.

This is a key role supporting senior managers across the council - offering high-quality financial insight, driving strategic decision-making, and ensuring best practice throughout. It's a hands-on opportunity where you'll add real value from day one.

• Delivering clear, actionable financial advice to service managers and senior leaders.

• Preparing and monitoring budgets, forecasting, and supporting the closure of accounts.

• Challenging assumptions, driving efficiencies, and contributing to long-term financial planning.

• Supporting corporate and service-based projects with robust financial analysis.

• Leading on statutory returns and providing financial insight across departments.

• Acting as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders - building relationships and influencing at all levels.

• Fully qualified (CCAB or equivalent) - or someone with significant experience in a similar role.

• A solid background in local government or wider public sector finance.

• Strong knowledge of CIPFA Codes of Practice and local authority accounting principles.

• Confident advising on complex financial matters and leading on key projects.

• Comfortable working under pressure, juggling priorities, and hitting tight deadlines.

• Advanced Excel and modelling skills, with excellent working knowledge of financial systems.

• Someone who enjoys being part of a collaborative, forward-thinking finance function.
