Finance Officer - Accounts Payable & Receivable

We’re currently recruiting for a Finance Officer with strong experience in accounts payable and receivable. This is a hands-on finance operations role suited to candidates who thrive in busy environments and can ensure financial accuracy across ledgers, reconciliations, and reporting.

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoice processing and reconciliation of financial data

• Manage VAT returns and maintain up-to-date, accurate records aligned with relevant compliance frameworks

• Run financial reports, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and support financial close processes

• Respond to finance-related queries from both internal teams and external stakeholders

• Assist with system upgrades and contribute to the ongoing improvement of finance procedures

• Support cashiering and banking functions, ensuring transparency and audit readiness

• Strong background in finance operations, with experience in both sales and purchase ledgers

• Comfortable working with financial systems and proficient in Microsoft Excel

• Able to interpret financial data, resolve discrepancies, and support process improvements

• Local government finance experience is required, with understanding of relevant compliance frameworks and regulations

• Highly organized, accurate, and able to work independently under time pressure

• Full training provided on-site in Rochford

• Hybrid work pattern available after training (2–3 days per week onsite)

• Immediate availability preferred
