Job Description - Financial Accountant

Job title : Finance Manager

Location : Corby, Northamptonshire (fully office based, free on-site parking)

Contract type : Permanent, part time (20-25 hours)

Salary : Up to £50,000 (D.O.E – pro rata)

Financials

  • Preparing and entering journals, prepayments, accruals, salaries and all relevant overhead costs.
  • Prepare P&L and Balance sheet for monthly meeting, analysing as you process figures
  • Prepare variance sheers for previous years figures
  • Ensure any variances on sales orders / purchase orders are resolved for financial assistance on a daily basis
  • Prosing of all NL payments into Sage 200
  • Bank reconciliation every month
  • VAT Returns quarterly
  • Claiming back VAT on bad debts
  • P11D Payments annually
  • Corporation tax payment annually
  • Run Aged Debtors every month in preparation for the Financial Assistant to send statements – check any overdue accounts / credits on accounts etc
  • Credit control for any overdue / problem accounts
  • Review customers that go “on Hold” to ensure there is no issue with their Credit
  • Profit recognition rules and understanding – mainly PFS – for Plant with % payment terms
  • Year end – prepare accounts for submission to Tax Accountant – confirm unaudited accounts
  • Attend meeting with Tax Accountants relating to Year End submission and any ad-hoc business

People

  • Prepare salary information on a monthly basis  – Sickness etc
  • Check salaries once returned by external accountant
  • Make salary payments
  • Pay PAYE and NI from external schedules
  • Keep holiday and time off records
  • Ensure all correct documentation is in place and correct procedures are followed for HR issues.
  • Deal with any HR issues that arise

Management

  • Prepare P11D information for higher management – check one finalised information in received by external accountant.

Vehicles

  • Ensure van insurance is up to date and in place
  • Tax vans annually

General

  • Building insurance on an annual basis
  • Electric / Gas contracts – ensuring they are renewed and that they are running smoothly
  • Read meter for gas monthly
  • Review and renew all buildings contracts to include : Waste collections, machine servicing and van servicing
  • Check overhead charges and query any unexpected changes
  • Price increases – both supplier and customer entered onto Sage 200
  • Stock Holding Report to HMRC
  • Inhouse Contracts
