Reed are currently work with a lovely primary school in Winsford looking for a Forest School Teacher on a part time basis starting September running all the way until the end of July so is a great opportunity for someone wanting long term work with shorter convenient hours.
The Forest teacher will be teaching students as part of resrouce provision from KS1 and 2 with the classes being small with around 10-15 students some of which may be supported by a 1:1 teaching assistant. The students in question are not part of the main classes in school and are all verbal so communciation issues are not much of a problem.
The working pattern would be 5 days per week spread out as two mornings (10-12) and 3 afternoons (1-3).
What is expected as a Forest Teacher?
To facilitate outdoor learning and development for children through a variety of nature-based activities. This involves planning and delivering engaging sessions, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children. It is excpected for the candidate to plan lessons in a way that they feel is fitting covering topics such as
Environmental Education: Forest Schools emphasize learning about the natural world, including topics like conservation, sustainability, and responsible stewardship.
Outdoor Skills: Children learn practical skills like fire lighting, shelter building, foraging (if appropriate), and basic bushcraft.
