Job Description - Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

Graduate Teaching Assistant - SEN (Ideal for Psychology, Education Studies or SEN Graduates)
?? Location: Greenwich, South East London
?? Pay: £100 - £120 per day (depending on experience)
?? Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
??? Job Type: Full-time, Term-Time Only

Are you a recent graduate in Psychology, Education Studies, or Special Educational Needs looking to gain practical, meaningful experience in a school setting?

An outstanding SEN school in Greenwich is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of additional needs, including non-verbal communication, autism, and learning difficulties. This is an ideal role for graduates aiming to pursue careers in teaching, educational psychology, or therapy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN, especially those who are non-verbal

  • Assist in implementing communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, and assistive technologies (training available)

  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging, tailored lessons with a focus on life skills, sensory learning, and emotional regulation

  • Foster strong relationships with students to build confidence and independence

  • Work closely with therapists, SENCOs, and the wider school team

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • A recent graduate in Psychology, Education Studies, SEN, or a related field

  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with complex needs

  • Patient, nurturing, and emotionally resilient

  • Previous experience (voluntary or paid) in a school, care, or youth work setting is a plus

  • Willing to support with personal care needs where required
