About the Role - Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teaching staff to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and communication needs.

This Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role focuses on building positive, trusting relationships, supporting emotional regulation, and helping pupils access learning through tailored, inclusive and individualised approaches.

Key Responsibilities - Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

Providing 1:1 and small group support as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
Supporting differentiated and personalised learning activities
Promoting communication, independence, and social development
Supporting sensory needs and structured routines
Assisting with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and specialist staff
Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environmentThe Ideal Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

Patient, empathetic and emotionally intelligent
Passionate about SEN, SEMH and inclusive education
Resilient and confident in managing challenging behaviour
Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building ability
Proactive, adaptable and solution-focused
Understanding of safeguarding and child protectionExperience as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, Learning Support Assistant, or within care, youth work, psychology or support work is highly desirable. Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs or complex needs is beneficial but not essential.
