Job Description - Housing Solicitor

Exciting Solicitor Role!

  • Location: Plymouth
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Hours: 37.5 per week (pro-rata if part time)
  • Holidays: 30 days per annum plus bank holidays

REED is excited to represent a leading organisation committed to addressing housing injustice and supporting individuals in housing need. We are seeking a qualified Solicitor with expertise in housing and homelessness law to join their legal team in Plymouth. This role is instrumental in using legal skills to challenge unfair housing practices and assist community members.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Deliver highest quality legal advice and litigation services across the client’s national network.
  • Play a key role in delivering systemic change through legal challenges aimed at preventing homelessness.
  • Work collaboratively within the hub to ensure community awareness of housing rights and enforcement.
  • Provide support and supervision to Trainee Solicitors and Legal Advisers, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance standards.
  • Legal representation in Court and other platforms (including litigation in test, lead case and judicial review).
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external members, along with key stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Solicitor with at least 3 years post-qualification experience in housing law (continuous) within a Private Practice or Public Sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of housing and homelessness law, with substantial experience managing a wide range of housing cases.
  • Proficient in court advocacy, litigation, report writing, and conducting file reviews.
  • Ability to meet the 2018 SQM supervisor standard in housing.
  • Experience working under a legal aid contract and meeting financial targets.
