Job Description - HR Manager

HR and Payroll Manager

  • Annual Salary: Up to £40,000pa
  • Location: Kent
  • Job Type: Full-time

Reed HR have partnered with a fantastic organisation in Kent who are seeking a passionate and experienced HR and Payroll Manager to join their busy and friendly team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to contribute to the business during a period of growth. This office-based role requires a candidate who is prepared to commute daily to the head office in Kent.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage a team of 2 payroll administrators, offering daily support and undertaking line manager duties.
  • Manage the time management system and extract data for payroll processing.
  • Conduct monthly end-to-end processing of the in-house payroll for approximately 500 employees.
  • Calculate salaries, deductions, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Handle HMRC submissions and ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation.
  • Perform month and year-end reporting for directors and auditors.
  • Conduct Gender Pay Gap reporting, ONS reporting, P11d’s.
  • Maintain and update payroll records in accordance with GDPR requirements.
  • Stay updated with payroll legislation changes to ensure full compliance.
  • Set up new starters and process leavers.
  • Act as the HR point of contact for Directors, Regional and Branch managers.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Seek guidance on a wide range of HR issues from the external HR provider.
  • Assist with all aspects of recruitment and placement of job adverts.
  • Take a lead role in providing training and development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in Payroll and HR.
  • Essential experience with Sage 50 Payroll.
  • Minimum education of GCSE or above.
  • Ability to work accurately to deadlines.
  • Proactive approach and strong people management skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting systems.

  • Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00, with no weekend work. Part-time hours may be considered.
