We are seeking an experienced and approachable Part-Time Human Resources Manager to support a growing provider of residential care services for children and young people.
This is a hybrid position, offering flexibility to work remotely with attendance at the company’s Milton Keynes office required once a week.
The successful candidate must have previous HR experience within children’s residential care homes and a strong understanding of safer recruitment, employee relations, safeguarding responsibilities and the regulatory requirements affecting the sector.
Key Responsibilities

Provide practical HR advice and guidance to senior management and registered managers.
*
Manage employee relations matters, including absence, performance, capability, disciplinary and grievance cases.
*
Oversee recruitment, onboarding and induction processes.
*
Ensure safer-recruitment procedures, employment checks, references and DBS requirements are consistently followed.
*
Prepare employment contracts, offer letters, policies and other HR documentation.
*
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
*
Monitor probation periods, appraisals, training, qualifications and mandatory compliance requirements.
*
Support workforce planning, employee engagement and staff retention.
*
Review and update HR policies in line with employment legislation and sector requirements.
*
Provide HR support during Ofsted inspections, audits and internal compliance reviews.
*
Promote a positive culture focused on safeguarding, quality of care and the wellbeing of children and young people.
Essential Requirements
*
Previous HR experience within a provider of children’s residential care homes.
*
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
*
Good understanding of safer recruitment, safeguarding and Ofsted-regulated environments.
*
Experience managing sensitive and complex employee relations cases.
*
Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
*
Ability to work independently and provide confident, balanced advice.
*
Willingness and ability to attend the Milton Keynes office once a week.
*
CIPD qualification or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable Requirements
*
Experience supporting multiple residential homes or locations.
*
Knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
*
Experience working within a growing care organisation.
*
Previous involvement in Ofsted inspections or compliance audits.
