Job Description - Independent Committee Member

Independent Committee member positions

Remunerated: £1,900 p.a.

Location: Croydon

ccha is a high quality, proactive and passionate community-based housing association, and we own and manage over 1500 homes across 4 London Boroughs, Croydon, Bromley, Merton and Sutton. We aim to build more social housing properties for the benefit of our communities, and we have a development company that undertakes for-profit sales to help us to achieve this.

We have a committed team of 65 staff that go beyond the bricks and mortar including providing specialist money and welfare advice, digital inclusion and employment programmes to contribute to improving the lives of our residents.

We are seeking two Independent Committee Members to join our Development and Assets and Audit and Risk Committees, to help us maintain a good balance of skills and experience across our Board and Committees as existing members reach the end of their tenure. Successful candidates might come from a range of employment sectors but will be prepared to bring a commitment to help to solve the housing crisis in the communities we serve, to make a real contribution to ccha and to help us to live up to our vision of Delivering on our Promises and CARE values. We are particularly interested in people offering backgrounds in residential development, assets, commercial, community services (customer perspective) and risk and assurance.

Diversity and Inclusion is important to us, and we welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.

Our meetings are a blend of virtual and in person and the successful appointees will need to be based close enough to join at least five in person meetings, per annum, at our office in Croydon.

For an informal discussion please contact Sue Manning, Director, Forest HR at [email protected].

Apply by providing:

  • An up to date CV covering both your leadership experience together with any experience in non executive roles.

  • A brief supporting statement and completing the skills matrix self-assessment.

  • Not part of the formal selection process, it would also be appreciated if you could complete our equal opportunity monitoring and declaration of interests forms. Copies of these forms are available for you to download separately.

Please indicate which role(s) you are interested in i.e. the Audit & Risk or Development and Assets Committee.

Closing date for applications: Noon, Wednesday 29th July, 2026

Interviews – on site at the ccha offices in Croydon on Thursday 6th August.

A full copy of the recruitment information pack, skills audit matrix form and the equality and diversity monitoring form can be dowloaded from ccha.biz/about-us/working-for-us/
