Locum Commercial Property Team Lead (Maternity Cover) – East Midlands – Rate DOE

Location: Hybrid – Office presence preferred, but not essential, 1–2 days per week
Contract: 12 Month+ Contract (Maternity Cover)
Hours: 3–4 days per week (Flexible on days)
Hourly Rate: Dependant on Experience

Start Date: Ideally mid-August (to allow for a handover before mid-September)

About the Role:
We’re seeking an experienced and qualified solicitor to lead a busy Commercial Property and Regeneration team on a maternity cover basis. You’ll step into a key leadership role within a supportive and growing team, providing vital continuity as the current team lead heads off on maternity leave.

This is a broad and varied position focused on commercial and residential property, regeneration projects, and elements of planning and procurement – though you’re not expected to cover every technical area. The team includes 8–9 people.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Providing day-to-day leadership and supervision to a small but high-performing property team
• Managing a mixed caseload of commercial and residential property work, with a focus on regeneration
• Representing the team in key meetings – some in-person attendance required
• Supporting junior staff, including oversight and mentoring

About You:

• A qualified solicitor with proven experience in commercial property and regeneration work
• Strong team leadership or supervisory experience
• Comfortable handling a broad caseload and stepping into strategic conversations
• Flexible, pragmatic, and confident in managing competing priorities
