Maths and English Tutor

We are seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and creative Maths and English Tutor to work one-to-one with a young person in the Tidworth area who is currently disengaged from mainstream education.

This young person is in Year 9 and presents with persistent refusal of learning-related tasks or instructions. They are able to maintain attention for up to 15 minutes at a time, so we are looking for a Tutor who can plan diverse, practical, and engaging sessions that respond flexibly to their needs and interests.

The young person is not currently working at Age-Related Expectations (ARE) and will require baseline assessments to identify gaps in their learning and inform a personalised learning plan.

• Deliver one-to-one Maths and English tuition
• Plan and deliver engaging, practical sessions tailored to the student's interests and attention span (up to 15 minutes)
• Conduct baseline assessments to identify learning gaps and create a personalised learning plan.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to suit the student's current level and engagement capacity.
• Build a trusting relationship to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Celebrate small achievements to encourage progress and boost confidence.

• A patient and empathetic educator with experience working with young people who may have experienced barriers to learning.
• Someone confident in delivering Maths and English at KS3 level, with the ability to adapt content and delivery style to suit the learner's engagement levels.
• A professional who can build trusting relationships, foster positive learning experiences, and celebrate small steps of progress.
• Experience with SEND, SEMH, or alternative education settings is highly desirable.

Flexible - to be agreed based on the young person's availability and engagement capacity.

• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide references upon request
• Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
