Mechanical Assembly Fitter

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Assembly Fitter based in Bedford to join one of our clients on a full-time temporary basis.

Summary of the Mechanical Assembly Fitter

Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 per annum
Location: Bedford
Type of Contract: Temporary
Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:15am - 4:45pm, Fridays 8:15am - 1:45pm

Our client is a global engineering company that has seen continuous growth for several decades.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Assembly Fitter

• Assemble various mechanical and electrical components.
• Produce completed pump assemblies.
• Carry out stripping/preparation/termination of various diameters of electrical cable and continuity testing.
• General fitting/assembly operations.
• Record and complete dimensional and quality/test check paperwork.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks.
• Loading and unloading of vehicles.

Requirements for a successful Mechanical Assembly Fitter

• Mechanical Assembly/fitter experience within a heavy equipment and manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of industrial pumps.
• Experience working in a medium to heavy mechanical engineering operation.
• Working to production deadlines and assigned operation hours.
• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
• Overhead crane and forklift licence.
• A keen eye for detail.
