Media Rights Manager (part time 3 days per week) –  10 month (potentially subject to some flexibility) Maternity Cover.

This is a Media Rights Manager role selling the film, television and stage rights in United Agents books. This role would suit someone who is highly motivated with several years’ experience representing book rights for both stage and screen.

Responsibilities:

• Identifying which of our books have adaptation potential and actively promoting these to the film, television and theatre industries.


• Identifying the right creative partners to successfully bring our books to screen or stage.


• Regular meetings with producers, book scouts and IP acquisition teams where you will pitch books in person – including at London Book Fair in the spring.


• Negotiating book options and other media rights contracts.


• Submission of new and backlist material via email.


• Manuscript reading on behalf of Agents/Clients.


• Producing a twice-yearly brochure of our upcoming books to send out to the industry (with support from our assistant).


• Keeping track of new books and maintaining an up-to-date list of books sold (with support from our assistant).


• Maintaining records of status of projects under option/in development and actioning relevant paperwork / chasing payments for these.


• Liaising with Book agents, communicating updates on projects.


• Managing an assistant.

Qualities and Skills:

• Trustworthy and accurate as will be dealing with highly confidential material.


• Must have experience of book options.


• Excellent contract skills with strong attention to detail.


• Can-do attitude.


• A passion for books, film, television and theatre.


• The ability to read quickly and an appetite to read broadly across all genres.


• Good relationships and contacts across film, tv and theatre.
