Job Description - National Space Academy Administrator
The National Space Academy (NSA) provides education programmes, continuing professional development sessions (CPD) and careers events, designed to support schools’ curricula in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) using space as the inspirational context. This ground-breaking initiative combines world class expertise in space science and climate science at leading universities and companies in the UK with a network of outstanding teachers to provide engaging and effective STEM interventions nationally and internationally.
A National Space Academy Administrator is sought to join the team. This job will be based at the National Space Centre in Leicester; however, the candidate may be expected to travel to visit the regional offices when necessary as part of this role.
Part-Time: 17/5 hours per week, 3.5 hours per day. These will normally be from Monday to Friday, during regular office hours, but there will be a requirement for some evening, weekend and bank holiday work according to the needs of the team. Time off in lieu will be granted accordingly.
Please note this is a fixed-term contract to the end of project funding 31st March 2026.
Salary: £12,907.50 actual (£25,815 FTE)

Responsibilities
To administer the various deliverables of the National Space Academy.
Under the direction of the programme Manager, to organise, facilitate and book other funded masterclasses including the use of the Gamma system to embed bookings into the National Space Centre system and procedures.
To assist the Programme manager in the organisation of the teacher symposium
To work across teams with corporate, front-of-house, education and space communications to ensure that Academy bookings fit into wider Space Centre activities.
To support the evaluation of programmes and resources to ensure optimum service delivery and customer needs, as appropriate.
To administratively support the space to Learn project
To assist the Programme Manager to manage the teacher network such as disseminating of contracts. Also to administratively support them in handling expenses and other administrative tasks.
To arrange and co-ordinate all team meetings.
To arrange and, if necessary, minute meetings between the Academy and partners, and to distribute minutes to interested parties.
To arrange travel and accommodation for the Academy lead team and Lead Educators as required.
To handle enquiries through telephone calls.
This post will also require:
Ensure that the National Space Academy marketing enjoys a high profile in the education and science communities and that the teams employ the best methods of communicating with the target audiences within the region
Be familiar with National Space Centre operational and administrative procedures to ensure that customer care and other staff are not compromised.
Working as a member of the National Space Centre team in ensuring that all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to, and that the Health and Safety of the visitor, and other employees are not compromised.
Undertaking training and development as part of the Personal Development Programme.
Undertaking any other tasks relevant as may be designated.
An understanding that these tasks are indicative of the role and are not exhaustive.
Person specification
Essential
The ability to act as an ambassador for the National Space Academy at all times, building professional relationships with partner organisations, stakeholders and colleagues
Ability to multi-task
Interest in space science, climate change observation and the opportunity for growth for the UK civil space sector
A professional attitude to work and the ability to organise time effectively and to meet deadlines
Experience of working on multiple different workstreams at the same time
A sensitivity to the needs of and restrictions on those working within formal education
Good communication skills
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
Be able to work effectively and professionally when working remotely from the National Space Academy team
Good IT skills with a willingness and ability to learn more specialist skills if necessary
Desirable
Experience of working within a bookings environment
Recent experience of the education sector and a willingness to learn about the current educational landscape
