Non-Executive Director – Manufacturing & Engineering
£10-12,000 per annum (flexible) | Approximately 1–2 days per month plus quarterly board meetings | UK-wide

We're working with a growing professional services company that supports manufacturers and engineering businesses across the UK. Operating in a market often regarded as traditional, they've developed a disruptive service model that's delivering impressive results and creating significant opportunities for growth.
As they enter the next stage of their journey, they're looking to appoint a Non-Executive Director with genuine industry credibility who can provide strategic challenge, commercial insight and an informed industry perspective to the board.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to make a genuine contribution to a business that is challenging established ways of working within its sector.
You'll work closely with the board as a trusted advisor, helping to shape strategy, challenge thinking constructively and provide guidance on future growth and investment decisions.
You’ll also bring valuable market insight and help the business make new connections within the manufacturing and engineering community.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend quarterly board meetings, either in person or remotely
* Provide independent challenge, strategic guidance and support to the board
* Act as a sounding board on growth plans, investment decisions and future direction
* Share insight into market trends, customer priorities and industry developments
* Use your experience, reputation and network to help identify commercial opportunities and support business development activities
* Facilitate introductions to potential clients, partners and key stakeholders where appropriate and without conflict of interest
* Act as a credible ambassador for the business within the manufacturing and engineering sector
About You
You’ll likely bring:
* Significant experience within manufacturing and/or engineering
* Strong commercial awareness and strategic judgement
* Experience influencing business direction at board, executive or senior leadership level
* A well-established network within the manufacturing and engineering community
* The credibility and confidence to open doors, facilitate introductions and create opportunities where there is mutual value
* Experience of both SME and larger corporate environments
* The ability to challenge constructively while supporting the board's ambitions for growth
Previous Non-Executive Director experience is welcomed but not essential. We would also be interested in hearing from senior leaders considering their first board appointment.
