Organist Musician

Job Title:   Organist Services

Location:   Portsmouth, VA 23707

Duties:

• The Candidate will provide professional services in music ministry as the Accompanist/Keyboardist for Protestant worship and Roman Catholic mass conducted by the Pastoral Care Department, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia as requested/needed.

1. 1. A schedule of services will be provided at least 4 weeks in advance.
   2. The Candidate may be asked to select appropriate hymns and service music appropriate for the seasonal requirements of the sacred liturgy in both Catholic and Protestant traditions.

• The Candidate will prepare and submit timely requests for needed resources and materials to the command chaplain.

Qualifications:

• The Candidate should have an Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• The Candidate should have Computer skills sufficient to create, maintain, and send reports.

Education/Certification:

• The Candidate shall be at least a High School graduate with a minimum of two (2) years of music education and/or experience.
• The Candidate shall hold knowledge of hymnal background, thorough technical preparation in organ playing to include a broad knowledge of the literature of the instrument, a comprehensive knowledge of the literature of church music. Knowledge of the art of conducting.
• The Candidate shall possess a good command of the English language.
