Job Description - Part Time Business Support Officer

Are you a versatile and efficient professional looking for a challenge in an academic setting? Do you have good administrative skills for managing operational tasks within a busy and dynamic team? If so, Signature Recruitment is excited to be partnering with our client, a prestigious London University, for a Business Support Officer.

This is a part time (24 hours a week) temporary role which will run for approximately five months. It is offered on a flexible working arrangement but ideally the postholder will work on a Monday and Thursday with a mix of in office and home working.

As a Business Support Officer, you will be involved in a wide range of tasks which will include responsibility for managing a shared inbox, dealing effectively and efficiently with initial queries and signposting when necessary. In addition, basic procurement tasks such stationery, equipment and facilities and financial management of staff and student travel claims and expenses. Other ad-hoc administrative duties in order to assist colleagues and senior members of the team in particular organising meetings and Minute taking when required.

Part Time Business Support Officer Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing a key point of contact to staff and academics - giving an efficient service via shared inbox, MS Teams and in-person queries
  • Organising and attending meetings and acting as a committee or meeting secretary as and when required and producing well drafted Minutes
  • Dealing with expense claims - following appropriate process and procedure and actively auditing budget codes and transactions
  • Responsibility for organising 'space and infrastructure matters’ such as ensuring common areas are presentable, reporting issues and ensuring their resolution with an understanding of Health and Safety
  • Managing post, stationery, and other office functions
  • Other ad-hoc administrative tasks and duties as required so as to support the faculty including organising short courses and summer school and associated logistics

Part Time Business Support Officer Key Skills:

  • Business operations experience ideally within a Higher Education setting
  • A confident and proactive approach to handling tasks, a team player with good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organisation, time management and meticulous attention to detail
  • Highly Proficient IT skills including MS Office with experience in business operations and handling financial transactions
