Part Time Finance Director

We’re supporting a highly respected, Oxfordshire-based charity to appoint a Part Time Finance Director - a pivotal leadership position at the heart of a much-loved organisation providing compassionate end-of-life care. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll be the strategic lead on all things finance, working closely with the CEO, Board, and wider team to ensure the charity’s long-term financial health and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities of the Part-Time Finance Director include:

• Lead all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, ledgers, and tax compliance.
• Oversee financial controls and systems, ensuring robust internal procedures across supplier payments, cashflow, investment management, and audits.
• Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO, SLT, and Trustees, communicating complex financial information clearly across all levels.
• Own the charity’s budgeting and reporting processes, preparing management accounts, annual audits, and updates for quarterly Finance Committee and Trustee meetings.
• Contribute to strategic planning, advising on long-term financial viability and the implications of key decisions.
• Lead and support your finance team, ensuring strong, values-led leadership and a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Be a visible and active senior leader, representing the charity externally and attending events to support its mission.

The role offers a flexible opportunity, with an option to work 22.5 hours or 30 hours per week, with additional hybrid working arrangements.

• A full or part accountancy qualification.
• Strong experience in financial leadership and reporting
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholders
• Proven track record in motivating teams and leading with empathy
• A strategic mindset and commercial acumen
• Ideally, a background working in the charity sector, but this is by no means essential.
