Percussion Instructor

Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Worksite: On-site

Position: Part-time

Duties:

• Provide one-on-one and group percussion instruction to Navy and Marine Corps musicians.
• Conduct weekly lessons, each lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes.
• Perform administrative tasks, including updating instructional materials and maintaining student records.
• Administer proficiency assessments for students.
• Develop lesson plans to address students' strengths and weaknesses.
• Utilize NAVSOM's curriculum in classical, jazz, and commercial music styles.
• Develop and deliver remedial training for students with substandard performance.
• Prepare students for performance assessments.

Requirements:

• Master of Music in Music Education and/or Performance (DMA preferred) or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
• Experience in both classical and commercial music styles.
• Proficiency in ear training and music theory.
• Ability to carry musical instruments up to 40 pounds.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
