Residential Children's Support Worker

Hays Specialist Recruitment is actively recruiting for an experienced Senior Children's Residential Support Workers based in (Teddington/Twickenham) Southwest London.

Salary: £31,500 - £33,000
Shift pattern: 7-days, Days & Nights (Inc. Sleep-ins)

Hays are recruiting for a talented Senior Children's Residential Support Worker to work in one of the best children's homes in London. Working directly with the local authorities, you will be part of a large team of residential workers, with the intention of moving in between 3 homes based in Southwest London to support the service in its entirety.

Your New Role

• Providing essential support to children and young people (12-16 years old) within residential homes with complex emotional needs and EBD.
• Creating a safe and nurturing environment to foster their independence.
• Engaging in diverse day-to-day activities tailored to their needs.
• Assisting with household tasks like cooking and cleaning.
• Supporting learning and homework completion.
• Building trust and responsibility to accompany them to appointments and activities.

What you'll need to succeed

• Preferred Experience: Prior experience in a children's residential home is preferred. Experience with children is a must, especially those with complex needs. However, we welcome candidates with relevant transferable experience supporting young people with challenging needs. (Note: those with prior experience will be prioritised)
• Ideal Qualifications: Qualifications such as an NVQ L3 are ideal. An NVQ LVL 2 is a must. (Note: Those with NVQ L3 are prioritised)
• Flexibility: We're seeking workers who are as flexible as possible. Our client will be providing ample notice for shifts (more than 1 month in advance) to ensure adherence to the rota.
• Resilience: This role can be challenging, so a strong will, perseverance, and patience are essential when dealing with difficult situations, problem-solving skills will also be prioritised.
• Effective Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary. You'll be responsible for writing in logbooks and potentially preparing reports.
