School Mental Health Assistant - Ideal for Psychology or Criminology Graduates

Location: Stevenage, Bedfordshire

Salary: £460 - £500 per Week

Sector: Education and Training

Contract: Full-time, Term Time

Start Date: Immediate or September start

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Supporting children and adolescents with mental health and behavioural needs as a school mental health assistant.
  • Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions focusing on emotional literacy, trauma recovery, and resilience
  • Working closely with pastoral staff, SENCOs, and external agencies (e.g. CAMHS, social care)
  • Applying psychological theories in real-time to help manage behaviour and promote positive change
  • Observing and tracking progress, contributing to behaviour and support planning

We're Looking For a Graduate Who:

  • Has a degree in Psychology, Criminology, or a related subject
  • Understands trauma-informed care, ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), or behavioural psychology
  • Is passionate about early mental health support and safeguarding
  • Wants practical experience ahead of a career in mental health, education, youth work or probation
  • Is a reliable, empathetic presence able to build trust with vulnerable student's
