Job Description - Secondary - Design Technology Teacher

Design and Technology Teacher
  • Job Type: Part-time (3 days per week)
  • Location: Lancaster
  • Salary: Competitive rates in line with Teacher Pay Scale
  • September start

Reed Education is seeking a dynamic Design and Technology Teacher with specialisation in either Engineering or Food Technology. This part-time role, starting in September, is based in a secondary school in Lancaster and offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of students on a long-term basis up to 1 year. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of the curriculum, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to creating an engaging learning environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver Design and Technology lessons to KS3 and KS4 students; experience with KS5 would be advantageous.
  • Create and implement engaging lesson plans that meet curriculum standards.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student learning and growth.
  • Utilise effective classroom management skills to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Collaborate with other teaching staff to plan and coordinate lessons.
  • Assess and evaluate students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to promote their academic growth.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
  • Recent relevant experience in teaching Design & Technology at KS3 and KS4; KS5 is desirable.
  • Strong subject knowledge in either Engineering or Food Technology.
  • Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, commitment, and the ability to act as a good role model.
  • Must be trustworthy, punctual, patient, and confident when working with children.
