Job Description - SEN TA Rochdale and Oldham

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and other complex needs.
  • Assist with personal care routines, ensuring the dignity and well-being of students.
  • Support students with their learning and development, adapting approaches to individual needs.
  • Foster a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
  • Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies.
  • Encourage student independence and social interaction.
  • Monitor student progress and report back to the class teacher.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students or children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or compounded complex needs.
  • A minimum of 3 months of recent UK experience in a school or care setting.
  • Applicants with care experience or transferable skills from similar supportive roles are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Comfortable and confident in providing one-to-one support.
  • Willingness and ability to assist with personal care.
  • Available to work 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • A relevant teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3) is desirable but not essential.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
