Job Description - SEN Teaching Assistant



SEN Teaching Assistant – Early Years (Colindale, Barnet)


Are you an experienced Early Years SEN practitioner looking for a meaningful and rewarding role? This welcoming primary school in Colindale is seeking two skilled SEN Teaching Assistants to join their Reception team and provide dedicated support to children with autism and additional needs.

About the Two Roles



Role 1 – Supporting Two Pre -Verbal Autistic Children


• Work 1:1 with two Reception -aged boys (AM/PM)

• Must have strong experience supporting pre -verbal autistic children

• Confident using visuals, communication aids and structured routines

• Able to implement personalised strategies and build trust through calm, consistent support


Role 2 – Supporting a Variety of SEN Needs in Reception


• Work within a class that includes several children with emerging SEN needs

• Provide key support to a child with an EHCP who has emotional needs and a history of trauma (currently thriving)

• Support additional pupils showing signs of autism, requiring social communication and social skills development

• All children are verbal and require a patient, emotionally attuned practitioner

• Experienced EYFS SEN TAs only (these roles are not suitable for beginners)

• Confident, empathetic and skilled in autism and emotional regulation strategies

• Able to build strong, nurturing relationships with young children

• Passionate about helping every pupil reach their potential
