SEND/SEMH Tutor - Wells

Quantum Scholars are looking for a patient, supportive and experienced SEND/SEMH Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one educational support to young people in Wells.

The successful tutor will have experience supporting children and young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs and be confident adapting their teaching and support to meet individual academic, emotional and behavioural needs. Experience supporting learners who may struggle with emotional regulation, engagement or traditional learning environments would be highly desirable.

The role will focus on building positive relationships, helping learners overcome barriers to education and supporting them to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning. A calm, consistent and flexible approach will be essential.

Experience supporting young people who display challenging behaviour, experience anxiety, school avoidance or disengagement from education would be particularly beneficial.

This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

The role may involve:

Providing personalised one-to-one educational support to children and young people with SEND/SEMH needs.
Supporting learners who may have barriers to accessing mainstream education.
Adapting lessons, resources and teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
Supporting English, Maths, Science or other subjects depending on your subject specialism.
Supporting learners across the primary or secondary curriculum where appropriate.
Identifying gaps in learning and providing targeted support.
Supporting learners who may experience anxiety, school avoidance or disengagement.
Supporting young people who may display challenging or unpredictable behaviour.
Creating a calm, structured and positive learning environment.
Using positive behaviour strategies and appropriate de-escalation approaches where required.
Helping learners build confidence, resilience and independence.
Using learners' interests and strengths to encourage engagement.
Supporting emotional regulation and positive engagement with education.
Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback.
Building positive and trusting relationships with learners.
Working collaboratively with parents/carers and other professionals.
Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Following safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of the young person.

Essential requirements:

Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
Experience providing one-to-one educational or tutoring support.
Experience supporting learners who have barriers to accessing mainstream education.
Experience supporting challenging behaviour would be highly desirable.
Experience in a school, tutoring, Alternative Provision, EOTAS or similar educational setting.
Ability to adapt teaching and support to individual academic, emotional and behavioural needs.
A patient, calm, flexible and empathetic approach.
Ability to build trusting and respectful relationships with young people.
Experience supporting reluctant, anxious or disengaged learners.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to create a positive and structured learning environment.
Reliable and consistent approach to work.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
