Part Time Senior Bookkeeper - Liverpool

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to provide hands-on financial support to our valued clients in Liverpool. As a Senior Bookkeeper for The Part-Time Finance People, you’ll provide SME clients with tailored financial support, completing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks and helping to overcome accounting challenges while preparing and explaining financial information that improves cash flow and supports better decision-making.

About You:

You are an experienced Bookkeeper/Finance Manager with practical exposure to growing SMEs. Ideally, you are self-employed and have at least 2 days per week available to provide flexible, high-quality support.

Key Responsibilities:

Bank Reconciliations & Cash Management

  • Post and reconcile all bank accounts accurately and in a timely manner

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and accounting records

  • Ensure all transactions are correctly coded and supported

Sales Ledger & Accounts Receivable

  • Raise customer invoices and manage recurring billing

  • Maintain the sales ledger and ensure accuracy of customer accounts

  • Manage credit control, including chasing overdue debts and resolving invoice queries

  • Produce debtor reports and support clients in improving cash collection

Purchase Ledger & Accounts Payable

  • Process supplier invoices and expenses promptly and accurately

  • Maintain the purchase ledger and supplier accounts

  • Prepare supplier payment runs for client approval

  • Carry out supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies

Credit Control

  • Proactively manage aged debt and follow up outstanding balances

  • Communicate professionally with customers to resolve payment issues

  • Work with clients to improve credit control processes and cash flow

Systems & Software

  • Experience with Xero and/or Sage 50/QuickBooks

About You

  • Minimum 3 years’ UK-based bookkeeping or finance experience

  • Background as a Bookkeeper or Finance Manager within SMEs

  • Comfortable working independently and directly with clients

  • Self-employed with at least 2 days per week availability

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail

Additional Information

  • This role is on-site with clients in Liverpool / Chester

  • £22.50 hourly rate of pay

  • We cannot offer sponsorship for overseas workers
