I am seeking an experienced and strategic Senior HR Manager to join our team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). This is a pivotal role, providing both leadership and hands-on support across the full spectrum of HR, with responsibility for shaping and delivering the HR strategy in line with the organisation’s business objectives.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, partners, and employees to foster a positive workplace culture, ensure compliance with employment law, and drive initiatives that enhance engagement, diversity, and performance.

This role requires two office-based days per week (rotating across our four offices), with the third day offering flexibility to work from home.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Develop and implement HR strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Advise senior leadership on HR trends, workforce planning, and organisational development.
  • Champion employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Employee Relations

  • Act as a trusted adviser on HR policies, procedures, and employment law.
  • Manage complex employee relations cases with discretion.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and address conflicts proactively.
  • Lead investigations and support disciplinary/grievance processes.

HR Operations & Administration

  • Oversee the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, performance management, retention, and leavers.
  • Manage HR documentation, contracts, payroll, benefits, and compliance.
  • Drive process efficiencies through technology and HR systems management.

Talent & Performance Management

  • Lead recruitment processes and provide expertise on talent development.
  • Ensure consistency in performance evaluation and promotion processes.
  • Monitor staff movements to anticipate resourcing needs.
  • Support performance improvement plans where appropriate.

Change Management

  • Support organisational change, including growth, mergers, or restructuring.
  • Foster adaptability and innovation across the firm.

Learning & Development

  • Design and implement training programmes for legal and non-legal staff.
  • Enhance internal training, knowledge sharing, and career development initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of learning programmes.

Data & Insights

  • Collate and analyse HR data, producing reports and KPIs for leadership.
  • Track attrition, absence, and exit data, providing actionable insights.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of HR information systems.

Employee Experience

  • Develop and implement consistent HR policies and processes.
  • Oversee induction and onboarding, ensuring a seamless experience for new joiners.
  • Promote wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Conduct exit interviews and collate feedback for continuous improvement.

HR Advice & Guidance

  • Provide day-to-day HR support and confidential advice to employees.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies across the organisation.
  • Offer guidance on flexible working, leave, benefits, and career development.

Office Support

  • Provide HR and office support across multiple locations as required.
  • Assist with procurement, office management, and systems support.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 7+ years in HR management, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Qualifications: CIPD Level 5 (or above).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment law, HR best practices, and the challenges of the professional services sector.
  • Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Technology: Proficient in HR systems, data reporting, and process automation; tech-savvy with a focus on innovation.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and manage teams.
