Service Charge Officer – Temporary Assignment

Location: London (Hybrid working)
Contract: 3–6 months (with potential to extend)
Rate: £28–£31 per hour (umbrella)

Hyperion Partners are proud to be supporting a well-established housing provider in London with the appointment of an interim Service Charge Officer. This is a great opportunity for a confident professional with a strong understanding of leasehold and rent-based charges to support a high-performing finance and housing management team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and issue annual service charge estimates and actuals across mixed-tenure schemes (including leasehold, shared ownership, DIYSO and general needs)
• Conduct accurate service charge reconciliations and ensure all costs are coded appropriately
• Investigate and respond to resident queries and complaints regarding service charges
• Work collaboratively with housing, finance, and asset teams to validate expenditure and maintain compliance
• Support preparation for First Tier Tribunal cases and compile supporting documentation
• Review third-party invoices and allocate costs in accordance with leases and legislation
• Assist with Section 20 and 20B notice processes where applicable

Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience in a service charge role within social housing
• Strong knowledge of leasehold legislation, including S20/S20B
• Confident with budgeting, financial reconciliation and interpreting leases
• Excellent communication skills – able to explain complex charges to residents
• Familiar with housing systems (e.g., Northgate, MySCH, QL, or similar)
• Able to work independently and hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment
