Specialist Operational Support Technician

As a Specialist Operational Support Technician, you will be required to support all warehouse functions in accordance with the Operational Support Technician duties, primarily focussing on advanced skills and support for responsible roles within the operation. This includes advanced and technical administration tasks which may be deemed as responsibilities within key roles across UK operations.

This specialist role is demanding; requiring concentration, attention to detail, motivation, and energy as everybody in the warehouse works under pressure to reach deadlines. You need to be able to have a good rapport with every individual in the company and the ability to pick up new things quick to hit the ground running.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting required duties in each department in accordance with current standards and expectations defined by the leadership team and delegates.

[Duties include but not limited to all of those within Goods in, Stock Control, Goods Out, Repairs, Resource Recovery, RMA and ITAD Roles]

• To be able to keep up to date with changes in the warehouse as a whole and to be able to manage changes made to departments.


• Assisting with and taking on project work, to improve warehouse processes.


• The ability to administrate accurately and investigate discrepancies.


• The ability to manage/ juggle multiple workloads from each department and to pick up and drop work left by other employees.


• To maintain good product knowledge and to be able to identify issues with stock.


• Hold a good working relationship with each department within the warehouse.


• Use of in-house WMS software and how to efficiently use it.


• Maintaining general cleanliness and tidying of the department and assisting in that of the warehouse


• Any other suitable warehouse duties that may be required by the Operations Manager


• Working according to the requirements of the Techbuyer Quality Management System


• As the company culture promotes helping others, ad hoc tasks will also be assigned to the job holder that are not listed above

Required Skills:

• Significant experience in an operations/ warehouse role.


• A passion for people and processes.


• A systematic, organised approach to work.


• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, from Senior Managers to warehouse staff.


• Strong workplace skills, including effective time management and prioritization.


• Desire to constantly improve, not just maintain the status quo.


• Ability to think up new concepts and innovations and implement effectively.


• Extensive experience in working to strict deadlines.


• Attention to detail – you need to be able to convey strict operational guidelines.


• Computer literacy.


• Methodical approach to problem solving and ability to use own initiative.


• Ability to communicate technical information clearly with non-technical departments.


• Flexibility, understanding the importance of being available to assist in any area of the business where required.


• Excellent knowledge of IT component parts and process and able to demonstrate a desire to learn.
