About the school

We are seeking a part-time Teacher of English to join our secondary school in Leeds, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with students at KS3 and KS4 levels, delivering high-quality English lessons and fostering a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking. You will be working within a supportive and experienced English department that values creativity, innovation, and student engagement.

Position Details

• Location: Leeds
• Contract: Part-time role
• Pay Rate: £150 - £223 per day (UPS rates will be considered)

Essential Requirements

• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.

• Eligibility to work in the UK.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons for KS3 and KS4 students.
• Develop and implement creative schemes of work to meet curriculum standards.
• Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing targeted feedback to support improvement.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation.
• Foster a love for reading and writing through interactive and inspiring teaching methods.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to departmental planning.
• Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring they are confident and well-prepared.
• Organise and participate in extracurricular activities related to English and literacy.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress.
• Support students in developing essay writing and exam technique skills.
