Team Teach Support Assistant

Engage Education are currently seeking a Team Teach Trained SEN Support Assistant to provide support for a Yr 3 child with SEMH, where you will be required to support with transition between alternative provision and mainstream setting. The school is based in Tingley/Morley Leeds area.

The full-time position is to commence ASAP until at least July initially with the potential of a permanent role for the right candidate.

We are looking for an SEN Support who is predominantly experienced in working with SEMH with Team Teach qualification, but applications are welcome from applicants with a range of SEND experience.

Within the role you will be required to:

• Provide calming and nurturing support for a pupil with an EHCP
• Promote good behaviour management strategies
• Support the delivery of lessons to engage and enthuse learners
• Be a positive role model for the children, through commitment to the setting expectations
• Show an interest in the children that you are working with, to build mutually respectful relationships
• Be resilient, not easily offended and able to de-escalate sometimes challenging situations

Skills and attributes:

• Ability to relate well to pupils and young adults with additional needs
• Experience of working within a similar setting (care homes, hospitals etc) would be advantageous
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Team Teach qualification desirable
• Experience of working with SEN, PMLD, ASD or SEMH advantageous
