Job Description - Youth Workers

Are you a youth worker looking for a fresh challenge or a new way to make an impact? We’re working with a wide range of schools across Bath who are looking for teaching assistants with a background in youth work to support students from September onwards.

These teaching assistant roles are ideal if you already work in youth groups, charities, or community organisations and want to bring your skills into a school setting - either as a change of pace, a step-up, or alongside your current commitments.

You can work as little as one day a week or take on full-time teaching assistant posts during quieter periods in your youth work. We’re completely flexible around your availability. Pay is weekly and roles are term-time only, making this a brilliant option for consistent, meaningful work during the academic year.

As a teaching assistant, you’ll support pupils both in and outside of class - helping with learning, behaviour, and social development. Many schools especially value youth workers for their ability to engage students who may struggle in traditional settings.

If you’re a youth worker ready to step into a teaching assistant role - even just one day a week - get in touch with us now to start from September.

Pay Rate: £85 - £100 per day (subject to experience and qualifications). This role is both full-time and part-time and during school hours, term-time only.

Qualifications & attributes:

These Teaching Assistant roles suit people with:

• Youth work or mentoring experience

• Ability to build strong relationships with young people

• A genuine interest in supporting children’s behaviour, well-being, and learning

Responsibilities include:

  • To deliver learning activities to children and young people, differentiating, modifying and using specialist activities and approaches according to children or young people's responses/needs.

By registering with Hanson recruitment, we can offer you:

  • Top rates of pay - We pay PAYE to all our candidates
  • Ongoing support at all aspects of your role as a SEN teaching assistant
  • Term-time work during weekdays
  • Ability to take time-off during exam/holiday periods
