In early 1996 former Marine Corp Officers and friends John Bowlin and Don Sabino hit the streets looking for new custom wheels for Don’s car. They drove from one custom “Mom and Pop” rim shop to another. They were getting frustrated with the lack of selection, and more importantly no credit options. Don wanted to buy, but had little cash in his pocket. By the end of the day, Don and John had no wheels, but an idea. They were convinced that the market was fragmented, lacked product, quality, and selection. More importantly, no payment options to make the product affordable for a willing, but temporarily cash strapped buyer. After some research, the two were sure they had an idea that could be a business. By December 1996, Rent A Wheel was born.
