Description
The Elementary School Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. In collaboration with educators, parents, and other professionals, the SLP implements strategies that support students' communication skills, fostering their success in the academic environment. This part-time position reports to the Academic Center Coordinator and Elementary Administration.
Required Qualities, Knowledge, and Skills
Display a love for the Lord; support the mission of CAK and possess a sincere, outgoing desire to serve all those associated with CAK
Regularly attend and actively participate in a local Christian church
Strong knowledge of speech and language development and disorders
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Proficiency in using assessment tools and therapy materials
Requirements
Assessment & Evaluation:
Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations to identify communication disorders
Utilize standardized assessment tools and observational methods to determine students' needs
Intervention & Therapy:
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results
Provide direct therapy services to students individually or in small groups
Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary
Collaboration & Consultation:
Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom setting
Participate in Student Learning Profile meetings, contributing expertise on communication disorders
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate records of assessments, therapy sessions, progress reports, and communications
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education services
Professional Development:
Stay current with best practices and research in speech-language pathology
Participate in professional development opportunities and training as required
Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from an accredited institution
Licensure & Certification:
Valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred
Experience:
Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school setting is preferred
Perform other duties as requested by Elementary School Administrators or the Head of School.
